Dr. Robert Mendelsohn, a highly acclaimed medical physician, said the following, "More Americans are hooked on drugs by their physicians than all the pushers on the street. It is estimated that one billion prescriptions are written in the United States every year."
With that said, read the following statistics:
- 50 million unnecessary prescriptions written each year by U.S. doctors (This according to U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention) 17 million alone to treat the common cold

- 120,000 people die each year due to hospital errors. This is equivalent to one jumbo jet crashing every day! It's three times the number of people killed each year in the U.S. by motor vehicle accidents.
- 1 million people each year are injured in hospitals.

- Leading causes of accidental deaths:
Fire 3700 MVA 41,200 Drowning 4100 Poisoning 8400 Falls 16,100 Medical Error 120,000!

- 16,500 people die each year due to gastrointestinal problems caused by NSAIDS (these include aspirin, ibuprofen, Aleve, Naprox, Voltaren and Indocin.
- 16, 685 people died in 1977 from AIDS. This may make NSAIDS the 15th most common cause of death in the U.S.!

- 106,000 people die each year from properly prescribed medications. Two million people become seriously ill. This may make it the 6th and maybe 4th most common cause of death in the U.S.!

- 35% of people are on dialysis due to use of anti-inflammatories and over-the-counter medications. 60% of people are on dialysis due to prescription medications. 5% of people are on dialysis due to hereditary.

- An aspirin a day keeps the doctor away--WRONG! It actually increases the risks for bleeding ulcers and stroke. 1,600 children die each year from prescriptions to aspirin. Other side effects: anemia, confusion, dizziness and more. 84% increase risk for stroke
